Saturday, January 20, 2024 - Getting Your Bees Ready To Split
Colony Maintenance is key to a thriving apiary and one of the best ways to ensure healthy hives and a thriving colony is through hive splits. In this 4-hour, hands-on course, Master Beekeeper Dr. Matt Thomas will walk you through the necessary steps to successfully splitting your colonies. We will discuss tips and tricks to ensure proper hive splitting, needed equipment and how to properly plan and prepare for the splitting season. Whether it is your first time splitting bees or you are just looking for a few new tools in your toolkit to take your apiary to the next level, you will leave this class with the knowledge and skills necessary for success. We will spend part of the day in the classroom and part of the day in the apiary. A bee suit and protective gear are required for this class.
The class will meet from 12:30-4:30pm. Snacks and drinks are provided
