Have you thought about getting bees but don’t know where to start? Want to visit with a beekeeper and check out a hive before you take the plunge? Join 4th generation master beekeeper Dr. Matt Thomas as he explains the workings of a beehive and how to maintain a healthy apiary. Perfect for new beekeepers, this class will focus on the basics of beekeeping. We will discuss necessary equipment, anatomy of a hive, and the steps to take to set your apiary up so your bees will not just survive, but thrive! This class is designed for beginners, but students with some experience are always welcome. A bee suit and protective equipment are recommended.
The class will meet from 12:30-4:30 pm. Snacks and drinks are provided.
